What does NYCE stand for?
NYCE stands for the Nashville Youth Campus for Empowerment.
Where will NYCE be located?
NYCE will be located at 1354 Brick Church Pike in Nashville.
Why is a new juvenile justice campus being built?
The new campus is being developed to better serve young people, families, victims, staff, and the community. The current facility no longer fully meets the operational, security, service, and space needs of a modern juvenile justice system.
Is NYCE a detention center?
NYCE is a full juvenile justice campus. It will include youth pre-trial housing, but it is not only a detention facility. The campus will also include court operations, assessment resources, service connections, family support areas, and spaces designed to support rehabilitation and accountability.
Will the new campus increase youth detention?
The new campus is being designed to improve safety, services, and operations. The goal is not simply to increase detention, but to create the right environment for youth who require secure housing while also supporting alternatives, services, assessment, and rehabilitation.
When will NYCE open?
The project is currently projected for completion in mid-2027.

Community members may follow updates on the Juvenile Court website and social media pages. The Court’s Community Outreach Team will also provide information through presentations, community meetings, and partner engagement.
