Judge Sheila Calloway held our annual Youth Court swearing-in ceremonies at Cane Ridge and Antioch High Schools today. The students were excited and eagerly accepted the challenge put forth by Judge Calloway to be leaders, role models and scholars as they now represent Juvenile Court. PENCIL holds its annual Back to School Breakfast at Belmont

PENCIL held its annual Back to School Breakfast Fundraiser at the Belmont Curb Event Center on Thursday, August 24, 2023. This event raises support for their unique programs that promote student success by linking community resources to Nashville public schools. More than 500 business and community members were in attendance to hear from partners, teachers, and students, as they share insight into their own experiences with PENCIL’s programs. Judge Sheila Calloway invited to join discussion about Student Resource Officers

Judge Sheila Calloway was invited to participate on “This Is Nashville” on WPLN 90.3 FM to have an open discussion about the pros and cons of the use of Student Resource Officers (staffed by the city’s Police Department) in Metro Nashville Schools. She was joined on the virtual panel by:

  • Israel Perez, high school senior
  • Mac Hardy, director of operations, National Association of School Resource Officers
  • Jonathan Brocco, educator, and school administrator in Nashville
  • Nancy Duchesneau, senior P-12 researcher with Education Trust

City of Nashville Named Finalist for $1M Bloomberg Philanthropies Award

Metro Arts is pleased to announce that the city of Nashville is one of 17 finalist cities in the running for a $1 million grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies for temporary art projects addressing a civic issue. Davidson County Juvenile Court hosts Blount County Juvenile Court Officials


We were excited to host an important visit at Juvenile Court today with officials from Blount County, TN, visiting our facilities. The visitors included Blount County Juvenile Court Judge Kenlyn Foster, Magistrate Jason Beddingfield, and Mr. Charlie Johnson, who is the ISP (Intensive Supervision Probation) Program Coordinator. They were given a tour of the facilities and were introduced to the workings of the Davidson County Youth Recovery Court. Indy Car Driver Shares Stories of his Championship Career with our Youth

As our city recently wrapped up another successful Big Machine Music City Grand Prix, we at the Court would like to thank Indy Car driver, Robb Holland, for taking time out of his busy race preparation schedule to visit and speak with our youth about the increasing opportunities available in Motor Sports. Mr. Holland is a championship driver and an accomplished automotive journalist that promotes diversity in his sport, and he graciously shared his path to the top of his field with several enthusiastic youths in our pre-trial housing unit.
